Privacy policy

How HistoryThread handles game progress, support and website visits. Updated 25 October 2026.

Who this covers

This policy covers the current HistoryThread Kids and Grown ups test app, the HistoryThread pages on the Project42 Apps website and related support. Project42 Apps is responsible for information you send us. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

Information saved on your device

The app stores your game progress, placements, quiz or challenge state, preferences and test-access setting locally on your device. It does not require a Project42 account, send that progress to us, or provide cloud synchronisation. The app can read its package version to show it for support. You can play with no name or personal profile.

What the current app does not collect

The reviewed test build has no advertising or developer analytics SDK, developer-operated crash reporting, location tracking, contacts access, camera or microphone access. We do not sell app data or use it for advertising. Checkout is disabled in the current pilot, so HistoryThread does not process a payment. Apple or Google may separately process testing, store or diagnostic information under their own policies if you use their services or choose to send feedback.

External history links

Game content and images are bundled with the app. When you choose to open a historical source link, your browser visits an external website. That site may receive connection information such as your IP address and have its own privacy policy. HistoryThread does not attach your local game progress to the link.

Support and test requests

If you email us or use our contact form, we receive the details you choose to send, such as your name, email, device, message and any screenshot. We use them to answer you, investigate a problem or arrange requested test access. For an Android test invitation, we may use the Google account email you provide to manage access in Google Play. Contacting us does not sign you up for marketing. Please do not send passwords, payment details, health information or children's personal details.

Website visits

The website is separate from the app. Cloudflare delivers these pages and may process your IP address and technical request information for delivery and security. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics without analytics cookies or cross-site visitor tracking. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile spam protection and forwards requests to our inbox. Website analytics and contact-form scripts are not part of the HistoryThread app. See our website and contact privacy notice.

Backups, retention and deletion

Your local progress remains until you reset it or remove the app's data. Deleting the app or clearing its storage may remove progress; device backups or transfers may retain a copy according to your Apple, Google or device settings. We cannot remotely read or erase your local saves. We keep support messages only while needed to handle your enquiry and test-access details while needed to manage the requested test. Ask us to delete correspondence or remove test access by emailing [email protected]. No Project42 app account exists to delete.

Your choices and rights

We use information you send us to respond to enquiries, arrange requested testing, investigate problems and protect our services. Providers such as Cloudflare, Apple, Google and our email provider may process relevant information outside the UK under their own data-protection arrangements. You can ask to access, correct or delete information we hold about you, or object to its use, using the email above. You may also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Children and families

Children can play without entering a name or contacting us. Website contact and test requests are for adults. Parents and carers should use their own contact details and avoid sending children's personal information. If a child has contacted us, please tell us so we can address the request.

Changes

Last updated 25 October 2026. We will update this policy and relevant store disclosures before releasing a material change to the app's data use. This page describes the current test app, not planned features.
